At the other end of the fashion spectrum, the Padonc team recently opened the Padonc Green Garden, which specializes in 100% natural dyed, hand-woven ethnic Karen textiles, produced by a womens’ weaving group which the Padonc team helped to establish. At the Padonc Green Garden, you can observe every step of the natural dying process, meet the team, and support local weavers by purchasing simply beautiful, handmade shirts, cushions, scarves and other textiles.

Founding members of Mae Hong Son’s ‘Businesses for Good’ group, shop owners Kwan and Kae will immediately impress you with their commitment for their business, their customers and Mae Hong Son province. The friendly couple have worked with economically marginalized, ethnic Karen women for over 6 years, developing export quality, handmade, natural-dyed textiles. The couple regularly organize and coordinate capacity building and funding to improve the women’s skills. They proactively support natural dying techniques which avoid unhealthy exposure to chemical dyes for the weavers and their customers. The Padonc team also facilitate networking and sharing natural dying techniques with other villages in the province.
